BING CROSBY: A POCKETFUL OF DREAMS--THE EARLY YEARS 1903-1940 BY GARY GIDDINS
Tracing the popular crooner's roots back to his Irish immigrant ancestors, Giddins biography of Bing Crosby is thoroughly researched. The author gives us a more realistic view of the man than either his screen persona or his son's autobiography gave us. He also corrects some of the information Crosby provided in his own autobiography, which Giddens wrote an introduction for. Giddens credits Crosby with changing the face of music, and anyone who has heard the man sing knows he had a style all his own. Fans will enjoy learning more detail about their beloved idol: The book includes a complete listing of his movies.
