KITTIES ON THE MOVE

Have you ever traveled with your cat? Many cats find riding in a car very stressful. Here are some steps to make the experience less stressful for them.

First, obtain a cat carrier that is big enough for the cat to sit and turn around in, but one that is not too big. Cats are more secure in small, familiar places. Be sure your cat has the opportunity to visit the carrier before the trip--place it in a favorite play area with bedding, toys and treats. Let the cat check it out at his own pace (don't force it!). Periodically, take the cat for short car rides in the carrier. This way, he will learn that something bad does not always happen when he gets in the car.
