MAKE YOUR OWN ORGANIC FERTILIZER
So you have flowers that just don't flower or bushes that lose their leaves and die back. Of course there can be many causes, but chief among them is the condition of the soil. There are scores of flower "foods" that promise great results--and they usually deliver. A perfect plant fertilizer will enrich your soil organically rather than chemically and can be made from easily obtained raw materials. Here's a recipe: four parts seed meal or fish meal (seed meal is a byproduct of oil making--from cottonseed, soy, linseed, etc.--and is high in nitrogen). One part agricultural lime (not quick lime or slaked lime) or dolomite (both should be finely ground). The more nutritionally complete dolomite is preferred. One part rock phosphate or 1/2 part bone meal and 1/2 part kelp meal.
