WHITHER WILLOW
The first form of aspirin came from the bark of the white willow tree in the early 1800s. The active ingredient in the bark, salicin, becomes salicylic acid in the body. White willow bark is an anti-inflammatory and a pain reliever, without the same side effects as synthetically produced aspirin, making it a good choice for arthritis sufferers. You should find it at your local natural foods and herbs store, since a white willow has to be a certain age before the bark is beneficial.
