ELEANOR MCEVOY: SNAPSHOTS (POP/ROCK)

In 1992, Irish singer and songwriter Eleanor McEvoy's song "Only a Woman's Heart" was featured on an anthology of music that was to become the best-selling recording in Irish history. The anthology was entitled ONLY A WOMAN'S HEART (the title obviously drawn from her song). Elvoy's latest release, SNAPSHOTS, offers a pop-oriented sound with heartfelt lyrics in the vein of R.E.M. and Sarah MacLachlan.

In this latest offering, classically-trained McEvoy lends her strong, beautiful voice and just-right arrangements to snapshots of the lives of several women. "There's More to This Woman" tells the triumphant story of a woman who has left an emotionally unhealthy relationship: "Well you took me for granted, you took me for mad/And you know you took advantage of the trust that I had/It shocked me to notice the mess I was in/It hurt me to find out the fool that I'd been." "Did You Tell Him?," "Please Heart, You're Killing Me," "To One Who Didn't Know You" offer snapshots of the lovelorn. "Sophie" tells the story of a young lady coping with anorexia - the lyrics ask, "How did she get this way? How did she get this way?" "She Had It All" deals with a woman's alcoholism. "Territory of Poets" tells the story of a married man in pursuit of an unmarried - and unsuspecting - woman.

This is a heartfelt CD, lovingly performed.  (LINK)
