THOSE RESOLUTIONS GETTING YOU DOWN?
If you made New Year's resolutions and you're already breaking them just days later, perhaps you need to rethink how you go about making resolutions. First, you should make more than one or two resolutions. Although we'd all like to suddenly become perfect people, that isn't going to happen, and it's much easier sticking to one resolution than to five. Second, don't make a completely life-altering resolution that you know will be difficult to stick to. Instead, choose something like "being kinder to people" or "stop thinking negative thoughts" that can be gradually incorporated into your life. Don't choose resolutions like quitting smoking or losing weight, which are difficult after the stress of the holidays. Make those "setting a date to quit smoking" and "exercising just fifteen minutes a day" instead. Choose something that would be good and healthy for you, but isn't impossible to accomplish. And if you've broken the ones you made just a few days ago, revise them and start over, minus the guilt.
